I started off as member of the Queensland Branch of the Ship Painters and Dockers Union, whence I won the 1992 election for the position of Union Secretary, where after the incumbency I was elected to replace simply said that they were not going to vacate the office.

Thereafter the political ppl, the police and the courts threw me to the wolves, and the rest of the entire membership abandoned the union, so I went on alone.
